Oberon: Superior Cieling Surface Mount Protection

by Nate Johnson on January 24, 2014

The large expansion of wifi hotspots, in building wireless coverage and other telecommunications distributions devices has led to the widespread use wireless access points. A common sight in ceilings of modern buildings, wireless access points are a technological standard quickly being applied throughout every industry. No matter if your business or service is in the healthcare, federal, commercial, or education market, an inbuilding wireless solution is becoming essential to maintaining communication for customers, patients, students and staff. Maintaining the integrity of your access points is where Oberon steps in.

Securing a wireless access point in a recessed locking ceiling encolusre is a common method of ensuring security. Since these ceiling mounts can replace whole standard 2' x 2' ceiling tiles, they offer quite a bit of flexibility for design, placement and implementation. With models available in either metallic or non-metallic, Oberon surface mount enclosures are virtually transparent to wireless signals, so there is no need to fear interrption between wireless signals and the protective shell. In addition to all of this, the enclosures are available in multiple colors and telecommunications outlets can be placed inside so that cable raceway or conduit can be conveniently terminated.

Optimizing wireless solutions do not always fit into exisitng design schemes as we'd like, but Oberon offers products to fit this problem as well. Many wireless access point manufacturers recommend that the wireless systems be installed horizontally to achieve the best wireless coverage, which could be difficult in certain areas of a facility. Thankfully, the wide array of mounting brackets, boxes and extensions turn what could be a potential security hazard to a simple installation.
