Leviton's New IT/AV Control System Offers Datacom Contractorsan Opportunity to Increase Revenue

by Julie Clark on October 20, 2016

Leviton's IT/AV systems are expanding! Leviton recently unveiled an update to its line of IT/AV systems with the new HDMI® and VGA Autoswitching Wallplate and 8-Button Control Panel. With installation based on HDBaseT certification and the TIA permanent link standard, datacom contractors can now look to expand their project business by providing customers with a professional AV control system with no programming required, all over a single category-rated cable.

"Our new IT/AV control system further enables low-voltage contractors to become AV experts for their customers," said Bill Lauby, senior product manager for Leviton Network Solutions. "As audiovisual technology has moved from analog cables to a category cable infrastructure, AV networks look more like traditional data networks. As a result, datacom contractors are in a great position to expand their business – particularly in education and enterprise applications – by quoting and installing AV systems based on the data network technologies they install every day."

The Leviton HDMI and VGA Autoswitching Wallplate connects, switches and extends one VGA and two HDMI inputs, plus audio input, to a single display or projector.

  • With 4K-capable certified HDBaseT technology to transmit HD video, power and control signals, this system extends video up to 70 meters over a single category-rated cable.
  • Using certified Power-Over-HDBaseT (PoH), the entire system is powered from the HDBaseT Receiver (sold separately).

The optional Leviton 8-Button Control Panel Wallplate can control the Leviton Autoswitching Wallplate up to 70 meters away (over a category-rated cable), replacing or augmenting IR remote controls.

  • The control panel features tactile, backlit pre-configured buttons for display or projector on/off, volume up/down, source selection and keypad lock. It is powered with PoH from the Autoswitching Wallplate and receiver.

The wall-based, flush-mounted IT/AV Control System allows users to connect up to three sources to a single display. Inputs can be automatically switched or manually selected for seamless transfer from one source to the next.
