Recognizing the amount of confusion and considerations to be had regarding Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) developed a listing category called Limited Power (LP). The LP listing provides a simple way to ensure cable installations are future-proofed against the ever-increasing PoE standards. It accounts for large bundle sizes, high ambient temperatures and other issues related to environmental effects such as enclosed spaces or conduits. **Select Gen*SPEED***** Brand Cat 6A and 6 cables feature EfficienC™ Max Technology and the LP rating.** ![Screen Shot 2017-02-28 at 10.40.25 AM.png](https://www.accu-tech.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screen%20Shot%202017-02-28%20at%2010.40.25%20AM.png?width=134&name=Screen%20Shot%202017-02-28%20at%2010.40.25%20AM.png)As PoE applications draw more power in the coming years, make sure the cables you install today won’t be susceptible to performance issues caused by heat generation down the road. Ensure a hassle-free installation without constraints to bundle size by choosing one of General Cable’s Gen*SPEED* Brand LP Listed cables today. With advancing standards, Power over Ethernet (PoE) will enable a whole new class of sophisticated devices which will require higher levels of power than ever before. PoE has been an established technology for many years, powering everything from VOIP phones to wireless access points (WAPs) at relatively low power levels of less than 60 watts. With the IEEE 802.3.bt standard expected to be ratified in 2017, up to 100 watts will be possible. This advance will allow you to power stronger WAPs, more sophisticated closed-circuit TVs with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities and even large-screen 4K HDTVs on your category cable infrastructure. ### **Cable choice matters in high-power PoE applications. GenSPEED® Brand’s LP listed cables can handle the heat! ** It is important to understand how your cabling infrastructure will perform under the higher power levels 802.3.bt will allow. Factors such as copper gauge size, cable design, bundle size and installation environment all impact a cable’s ability to handle heat rise generated from high-power PoE applications. General Cable’s GenSPEED line of category cables featuring EfficienC Max technology are the industry’s first to achieve UL’s LP listing, an independent verification that they will operate at power levels above 100 watts without exceeding the temperature rating of the cable. An LP rating provides assurance that a cable can handle the heat, no matter the bundle size or installation conditions.   Click below for LP Listed Category Cables brochure [![Screen Shot 2017-02-28 at 10.20.13 AM.png](https://www.accu-tech.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screen%20Shot%202017-02-28%20at%2010.20.13%20AM.png?width=320&name=Screen%20Shot%202017-02-28%20at%2010.20.13%20AM.png)](https://www.accu-tech.com/hubfs/LP%20NEC%20Overview%20Sell%20Sheet%20Sept%202016.pdf) [Learn more about General Cable here](https://www.accu-tech.com/vendor/general-cable) [Learn more about Accu-Tech here](https://www.accu-tech.com/vendors/leviton-fiber) - [Tweet](https://twitter.com/share) Topics: [General Cable](https://www.accu-tech.com/accu-insider/topic/general-cable) [cable](https://www.accu-tech.com/accu-insider/topic/cable) [PoE](https://www.accu-tech.com/accu-insider/topic/poe) [LP](https://www.accu-tech.com/accu-insider/topic/lp) [cables](https://www.accu-tech.com/accu-insider/topic/cables) ### Subscribe To Our Blog ### Additional Information ### About Accu-Tech Accu-Tech is a national distributor of Voice, Data, AV, Wireless, and Security solutions.
