How Do You Respect Your Building's Aesthetic When Mounting WiFi Access Points?

Oberon_Model_1018-00_Cutaway_CISCO_9117While some environments allow for or even highlight the display of network components, many spaces, require them to be concealed. Historical architecture, modern designs or areas with very specific color palettes require minimal visual disruption, and in buildings with these characteristics, you will need to pay particular attention to the appearance of your WiFi access points. WiFi coverage is critical, and so is maintaining and respecting the aesthetic elements of your building.

The Oberon 1018-00 is well-suited to fulfilling your aesthetic needs while continuing to provide the security and coverage required for optimal network performance with a unique UL Listed solution. Designed for use in drywall ceilings or in walls, Oberon's Model 1018-00 is an extremely low-profile and paintable WiFi access point (AP) mount. The cover comes in a standard white color to suit most environments, and it can be painted for a perfect match or contrast as needed with non-metallic latex points, so you can ensure that even if it is visible, the color meets your aesthetic needs.

Now, let's go beyond the aesthetics to talk about the cover itself. The Oberon 1018-00 features an all-plastic recess box with vendor-specific mounting features for APs from Cisco and Aruba, as well as a universal mounting T-bar. Comprised of a thin PC/ABS composite plastic, the mount is virtually transparent to the wireless signal. It's also easy and quick to install and requires minimal hardware to get the job done. Concealed attachment points provide the option to screw the cover into the recess box for additional security, and the AP, surface mount box, patch cord and associated cabling can all be organized inside the box.

Oberon's Model 1018 is designed to satisfy UL 2416 requirements for in-wall mounted enclosure systems using fire-rated plastic material for recess wall mounting. It uses impact-resistant and flame-retardant PC/ABS plastic and includes a UL Listed Conduit Connector to accommodate up to two Cat 6A cables. It's also compatible with WiFi APs across a variety of shapes and sizes from all major AP manufacturers, making it possible to change your APs as needed without replacing the enclosure, increasing the lifespan of the enclosure.
