OCC Presents The Procyon ® Blade

by Julie Clark on March 10, 2015

OCC’s Procyon Blade is the newest addition to the Procyon product family of high-density network solutions. Designed to provide superior organization, accessibility and density, the Blade system enclosures and in-line splice modules maintain the highest optical performance over the longest runs, making it ideal for multiple building network configurations. OCC's reliable and reconfigurable system is designed to accommodate multi-building complexes such as hospitals, corporate offices, government facilities and universities and supports the increasing growth for future applications.

OCC_ProcyonIn OCC's press release, Ian Timmins, Vice President of Engineering, Enterprise Connectivity Products explained: “Blade enclosures encourage durability and reliability in long cable runs that you would typically find on hospital or university campuses, data centers or any high-density splicing application,” Timmins said. “Because we’ve based this system around a splicing-centric installation architecture, Blade decreases the number of physical connections required, minimizes signal loss and improves signal integrity with reduced back reflection.”

Named for its blade-like attributes, OCC’s patent-pending in-line splice modules simplify installations with easy access to subgroup cables and can be extracted from the front or rear of the enclosure. This minimizes the risk of disturbing co-located subgroups and streamlines moves, adds, and changes.

The Procyon Blade enclosures are adaptable to fit your needs, available in three rack mount configurations and two wall mount options, each offering unique benefits to any high density system. Additionally, a wide variety of adapter plate options further expand the versatility of the Blade enclosure solution.

“Every high-density network scenario requires its own unique solution and the new Blade system components allow users to customize the solution to meet their needs with the added assurance that every Blade system will allow for ease of access, increased security, reduced fiber stress and durability for years of adds, moves and changes,” said Timmins.

Blade solutions can be combined with OCC’s HC- and HD-Series cables to provide a singular source for an organized, accessible and dense network system for multi-building and campus network applications.
