Shriners Hospital Partners with WilsonPro to Help Improve Patient Care and Cellular Connectivity

by Teddi Strassburger on February 3, 2020

AdobeStock_45640028The Shriners Hospital for Children network includes 22 non-profit medical facilities in North America - 17 hospitals and five outpatient clinics. They have treated over 1.4 million children, regardless of their families' ability to pay.

From concerned parents keeping their families informed on the status of their child's treatment, to doctors communicating with colleagues through tablets and smartphones, everyone in a hospital depends on technology to keep informed. It's clear that strong and reliable cell signal is paramount in these facilities.

Unfortunately, at the Shriners location in Montreal, Quebec, the cellular connectivity with less than consistent, regardless of the carrier. The state-of-the-art construction materials installed to prevent heat loss and save energy costs were also inadvertently blocking the cell signal. After seeing issues with other solutions in similar situations, the Shriners team decided to work with WilsonPro to design a solution to boost signal for all Canadian carriers.

After a site survey at the hospital, a WilsonPro 70 Pro Plus was utilized to quickly cover the on-call room and surrounding areas from the fourth floor server room. A powerful Wilson omnidirectional outside antenna was selected to capture cell signal from all carriers, and it was installed with a non-penetrating roof mount. The rest of the hospital's 100,000 sq ft were covered by two WilsonPro Pro 4000R cellular amplifiers.

These solutions provide strong and reliable cell signal to all who use it in the hospital. Learn more here.
