The Urgent, Overarching Issue

First quarter: A hopeful springboard into another year of potential new business trends. Unthought-of digital evolutions and maximized efficiencies within the industry call for reflection, goal-setting and preparation by operators and manufacturers everywhere.

The data center industry, for example, has spent the past two years scrambling to support IT systems and help businesses meet demands for essential services like remote work and e-commerce; yet, those same demands helped to expose the urgent, overarching issue to the economy of business: Environment and Climate Crisis.

A More Purposeful Approach

Data centers do many things, helping to advance scientific endeavors, improve business processes, deliver entertainment and enable new ways to connect with the world.

Vertiv brings together experts across its organization at the end of every year in order to collect and analyze the data center trends which might gain traction in the coming year. This year's trend? You guessed it. Data center sustainability initiatives.

In 2022, Vertiv experts predict that data center operators will construct a more purposeful approach, pushing efforts to utilize resources, eliminate carbon emissions and reduce waste. In fact, as the industry grows to meet demand and the concerns about energy consumption become more urgent, many organizations must begin to prioritize data center sustainability.

This will require a fundamental shift in how data centers are powered. In order for this to become a reality, operators, infrastructure partners and stakeholders alike must work together to collaborate and innovate. Continue reading here >>
