Accu-Tech Holds First LEED Seminar

by Nick Ainsworth on November 10, 2010

LEED Seminar Series

On Nov. 3rd in Baltimore and Nov. 4th in Tyson's Corner, VA -

Accu-Tech held the first of our LEED Seminar Series courses. The four hour course consisted of Passive Cooling and Energy Efficiency, Building the Eco-Efficient Data Center, Optical Cabling Enabling the Green Data Center and A New Breed of Halogen-Free Category Cable.  The seminar was well received by all who attended. In attendance were industry professionals which hold various credentials such as the RCDD, LEED AP and P.E. designation.  In addition to the unique educational opportunity the seminar provides, the course also worth (4) Continuing Education Credits for a number of professional industry designations including the LEED AP and BICSI RCDD. As of 11/4/10, the course was approved by the American Institute of Architects to receive (4) SD (Sustainable Design) Learning Units for their AIA professional designation.

At the end of the seminar Mike Long (Accu-Tech Federal and LEED Green Associate), who coordinates the LEED Seminar Series for Accu-Tech, was told by a number of Professional Engineers that the seminar would also help them obtain (4) Continuing Education Units towards their P.E. designation. One engineer in attendance told Mike "This course was great. I came for the knowledge but since I found out that your course is approved by the USGBC, BICSI and the AIA and listed on their websites, I can self report these four hours towards my P.E. credential." He also added that in 2010 the Commonwealth of Virginia made it mandatory for all P.E.'s to obtain 10 CEC's per year. "To get (4) of them for free is unbelievable."

To all Professional Engineers out there... check out what your state requirements are for your P.E. CEC's. Accu-Tech can help!
