How to Choose a DAS Wireless Mounting System

by Julie Clark on May 21, 2014
As a part of the rapidly evolving communications industry, we all know how important it is to choose the right solution to install. With so many options it can be a daunting task to determine which parts of the system are the most important.

oberon enclosureWhen choosing a wireless mounting system for your DAS installation, it is critical to look for:

  • A Secure Solution
  • A Reliable Solution
  • A Flexible Solution
  • A Convenient Solution
  • An Aesthetic Solution
Let's delve into these important qualities.
A Secure Solution
Security is one of the most important parts of choosing a system. Is the enclosure system tamper-proof? Does the system provide security for your access points?

A Reliable Solution
Reliability and performance go hand-in-hand, and don't need much explanation. For your facility, you want to choose an enclosure system with durable quality that is compliant to all relevant industry standards.

A Flexible Solution
When choosing a mounting solution for a school, hospital, or office building, you need a flexible solution. Is it easy to update or repair if moves, adds and changes (MAC work) are needed? When it comes down to it, convenience and accessibility play an important part of the decision process.

A Convenient Solution
The enclosure needs to be convenient and accessible by the end user. Can staff easily gain access when needed? Does the solution allow for MAC work? Convenience and user-friendliness is key.

An Aesthetic Solution
How does the mounting system look when installed? Does it securely terminate each part of the system within the enclosure for a clean appearance? A clean appearance is critical to the finished solution.

With these five keys, you can ask the right questions to find the best wireless mounting system for your end-user.

The white powder-coated 18"x18" steel bezel mount locks the access point in place with a patented locking mechanism. Access point MAC work can be performed without removing the mount from the ceiling- which is of critical importance in many industries, including healthcare.

Model 1051-00
The Model 1051-00 is a locking, recessed hard lid ceiling or wall enclosure designed to secure wireless access points and DAS remote units with detachable antennas from most vendors. This aesthetic, white powder coated steel enclosure can be recessed into the ceiling or wall, and has openings in the door for ceiling mounted antennas. Mounting hardware in the flange secures the flush mounted enclosure to the ceiling or wall. The 1051/1052 series has interchangeable retrofit doors, allowing current owners to install new access point or antenna solutions from different vendors, simply by swapping doors. The Model 1051-00 is deep enough to accommodate the Cisco 3600 series and other large 802.11n wireless access points, and DAS remote access units, with external connectors and up to six antennas.
