Hitachi's Category 6 XS™ Cable

Say "hello" to Hitachi’s new entry-level Category 6 cable, the XS™. The XS cable is UL Verified, sweep tested to 555MHz and delivers electrical performance that exceeds the ANSI/TIA 568.D-2 standard and is made in the U.S.A at Hitachi’s Manchester, New Hampshire facility.

What are the benefits of Hitachi’s new entry-level XS cable? The XS cable is designed to speed up installation while improving shipping capabilities and warehouse space. How does the XS cable provide these improvements? The XS CMP (plenum) utilizes a smaller box than previous designs, making the cable more efficient when it comes to space for storage and shipping. Shortly changes will be made to the CMR (riser) version as well. The XS contains no center spline that is typically found in Category 6 cables, resulting in a fillerless design that provides one of the smallest outside diameters on the market for Category 6 cable and permits the highest conduit fill rates of all Hitachi Category 6 cables and one of the highest in the industry. To make installation a breeze and put a smile on any installer’s face, Hitachi’s XS cable pulls with ease from the Reelex box and lays flat when dispensed. This allows for the installer to have an overall better experience by providing easier and faster pulls during installation. The cable’s 24 AWG conductors limit its outside diameter while supporting PoE applications such as the popular IEEE 802.3 af and at and the even more demanding IEEE 802.3bt.

While this world continues to grow, we must start thinking greener. The XS Cable does just that and is Hitachi’s greenest cable, utilizing a brown box made of 100% recycled cardboard for both CMP and CMR cables. This packaging has no chemicals or wax coating, requiring far less resources to enter the recycling stream. But wait, it gets even better. The before mentioned fillerless design requires substantially fewer materials than those with fillers. The materials used to package the XS cable are almost all from New England or northeast based companies. Like all of Hitachi’s indoor Category 6 cables, the XS cable is eligible for Hitachi’s Lifetime product and performance warranty. Keep in mind the XS cable is available in a wide range of colors.
